Obituary for Jean Lois Murrell

Jean Lois Murrell
Jean was born to John D. and Celeste R. Haslam in La Mesa, CA. She married Art, her Marine, on April 14, 1946. He predeceased her in 1998. Her daughter, Ginger, predeceased her in 2010. Jean is survived by her brother Jim (Bev), daughter Nancy (Eileen), granddaughter Kim and great-grandkids Evan, Abby and Ysabel.

Jean was a cheerleader at Grossmont High School, class of ’42. She was an Honored Queen in Job’s Daughters. Jean was a bank teller for 35 years. She spent 10 years with the La Mesa Police Department as a member of the Retired Senior Volunteer Patrol. Jean and Art enjoyed 30 years vacationing at their condo on Maui. Her other loves were: family, friends, her beloved pets, golf, bowling, crafts and traveling.

Jean passed away peacefully at home on August 26th , surrounded by family and friends. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and a wonderful friend to many. Mom will be greatly missed.
Many thanks to her caregiver Linda, her nurse Jessica, her Home Healthcare Aide Andrea and Sharp Hospice. Their support was priceless.

There will be no service. Family and friends will celebrate her life privately. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that those wishing to honor Jean’s memory donate to the Rady Children’s Hospital.

Messages to the family can be left at FeatheringillMortuary.com and at Legacy.com.
