It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Alberta Joanne Callahan, who left this world peacefully on June 8, 2025, at the age of 90. Born on November 16, 1934, in San Diego, California, Alberta was a beloved daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, whose life was marked by a profound commitment to family.
Alberta was one of three cherished daughters of Catherine Bernice Morgan and Alfred Davis Morgan. She grew up in San Diego and later graduated from George Washington High School in San Francisco. Her early career began in high school when she entered the banking industry, a path she would follow for over 30 years at San Diego Trust and Savings. Known for her strong work ethic, Alberta devoted herself fully to her profession, and upon retirement, she embraced the joys of family life, dedicating those years to her husband, daughter, and her beloved grandchildren.
On March 16, 1975, Alberta married the love of her life, Pat Callahan, in a beautiful ceremony in La Mesa, California. Their union lasted 41 wonderful years until Pat's passing in August 2016. Together, they built a life rich in love and laughter, creating many memories that will be cherished by all who knew them.
Alberta took great pride and joy in her role as a mother to her daughter, Cathy, and later as a grandmother to her grandsons, Brent and Kyle. She was a beloved great-grandmother to four precious great-grandchildren, who provided her with an immense amount of joy in her later years. Alberta cherished her family, and she spent countless happy moments nurturing and supporting them throughout their lives.
Alberta was predeceased by her sisters, Kathleen and Doris, and her beloved husband, Pat. Their absence is felt deeply, but her legacy of love will continue to resonate through her family.
In addition to her family ties, Alberta had a great passion for animals, particularly for each of the dogs she lovingly cared for throughout her life. She often found joy in their companionship, and her gentle spirit extended to all living things.
Alberta will be remembered for her warmth, her infectious laugh, and her unwavering commitment to those she loved. She touched the lives of many and will be missed dearly by all who had the honor of knowing her.
A funeral service will be held on June 17, 2025, at 10:00 AM at Holy Cross Cemetery in San Diego, California, where family and friends will gather to celebrate Alberta's life and legacy.
Alberta Joanne Callahan leaves behind a heartwarming legacy of love, compassion, and resilience, and she will be forever remembered in the hearts of her family and all who knew her.
