Anna May Kapunani Balalio

         On Wednesday, May 31, 2023, Anna May Kapunenani Balalio, beloved sister, wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, passed away at the age of 71.

         Anna was born on January 26, 1952 to Solomon and Amy Kaimimoku in Honolulu, Hawai’i. She was a graduate of Farrington High School, class of 1970. Soon after, Anna married her husband Luis in 1971 and in 1979, after having their three children, they moved to San Diego, California where she would then spend her life raising her family.

         Anna retired early in 1994 and spent her free time as a homemaker with her grandchildren. While at home she pursued her love for hula, lei making, and jewelry/gem collecting as an entrepreneur with her small business, Anna’s Crafts & Floral. She enjoyed sharing her passions with her family and will be remembered best by them for her quick-wit and strong willed personality.

         She is survived by her husband Luis, her three children, Kalani, Lovette, and Leighton, her six grandchildren, Marcus, Kayla, Kamron, Noah, Devin, and Keana, and two great-grandchildren, Eli-Makoa and Aubree, as well as other extended family members.

         Mass in honor of Anna May Kapunenani Balalio will be held on Saturday June 24, 2023 at 5:15pm.
