With heavy hearts and profound sorrow, we remember and cherish the brief but deeply meaningful life of Banks Griffin Ricci, who was born on December 25, 2025, in San Diego, California, and passed away on March 25, 2026 at Rady Children's hospital. In her short time with us, Banks embodied a spirit of courage, joy, and an amazing sense of humor.
Banks’ journey was marked by incredible bravery and strength as she faced a challenging diagnosis with determination beyond her years. We are forever grateful for the time she gave us here.
Her favorite memories will always be treasured. Whether she was eating from her bottle and asking for more or peacefully being cuddled by mom, dad, or her grandparents. Banks found happiness in numerous little treasures: her stuffed dog Bernie, her dino named Dino, (pronounced Deeno), and her ocean toy which brought so much joy once her vision was restored to her, and many other small beautiful moments.
She loved being close to her family, snuggling on her mother’s chest and readjusting her head to her preferred side at even one week old, sleeping sitting up on mom's lap, and being active during physical therapy sessions; the Physical Therapists (PTs) said most babies hated PT but Banks loved being active, stretching, rolling, and doing tummy time. Each of these moments showed us who Banks was in her time here.
Banks leaves behind a circle of devoted family and friends who were her world. She is survived by her loving mother, Courtney Griffin, and her devoted father, Scott Ricci. Her grandparents, Carolynn and Jack Griffin, and Marlene and Anthony Ricci, held her close in their hearts. She is also remembered fondly by her uncle Jack Griffin Jr., aunt Tiffany Lim Griffin, uncle Pete Ricci, aunt Bridget Hennessey Ricci, and cousins Fiona, Teddy, and Maeve Ricci.
There will be a funeral mass at Sacred Heart Coronado at 11am on April 18, 2026, located at 655 C Ave., followed by a graveside service at 12:30pm at Holy Cross Cemetery, located at 4470 Hilltop Drive in San Diego, CA 92102. Though Banks’ time with us was far too brief, her memory will forever be a source of comfort, inspiration, and pure love for her friends and family.
Details of her journey have been captured forever here, at Caringbridge.
