Carl J. Stahnke

Carl J. Stahnke, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and brother died May 20, 2024. Born in Philadelphia in 1941, Carl moved frequently until his father’s last duty station in San Diego. He ran track at Herbert Hoover High School, served in the U.S. Army and graduated from SDSU with a master’s degree. Carl spent 36 years teaching, including more than 25 years at the former Junipero Serra High School where he was a valued and respected teacher of AP classes in European History and U.S. History. He enjoyed woodworking, camping and the outdoors, traveling in the U.S and Europe with his wife and spending time with family. Carl is survived by his wife Jo, daughter, son, daughter-in-law, granddaughter, and sister. He will always be missed and loved.
