Cary Homer Stevenson

February 11, 1933 — November 23, 2021

Cary Homer “Topper” Stevenson passed away peacefully at his home on the morning of November 22, 2021 in La Jolla California, with his wife Cynthia by his side. Born Feb. 11, 1933, and raised in Chicago, Topper attended Mt. Carmel High School and graduated from the University of Notre Dame. After college, Topper was commissioned as an officer in the United States Air Force, where he flew in the Strategic Air Command and enjoyed flying around the world many times over. In the Air Force, he rose to the rank of Captain and flew as a Senior Navigator on C130 transport planes. He loved to fly and continued flying small private planes after he left the Air Force. Following his military stint, Topper settled in Denver, Colorado, where he worked as a real estate broker and land developer. He was also an avid photographer and had an aerial photography business in Colorado, where he was a member of the Rotary Club. He remained a fan of Notre Dame Football and enjoyed the games, especially the Notre Dame-USC games, which he attended whenever possible after finally settling in Southern California. He is survived by 9 children from his first wife Leticia (now deceased), and by his loving wife of 35 years, Cynthia, and their son John Mark, as well as 15 Grandchildren and 8 Great-Grandchildren.
