Catherine Frances Walsh

Born February 19, 1942 in San Diego, Ca at Mercy Hospital. She was adopted at birth by Alice and Lowell McCartney. She attended Catholic schools for elementary and high school, SDSU, and Mercy College of Nursing of San Diego where she got her nursing degree in 1962. She returned to Mercy Hospital where she was hired April 1963 to work with the new pediatric department where she worked until the department was closed 42 years later in 2005. She chose an early retirement where she enjoyed her grandchildren and traveling. She passed away unexpectedly on May 6, 2026. She is survived by her daughter & son-in-law, Karen and Erik Nielsen; son, Sean Walsh; grandchildren, Nicholas and Trevor Smith, Tyler Nielsen and his wife Celyn; and great-granddaughter Kaia Nielsen.
