Charles Emmett Sutherland

Celebration of Life will be held June 29, 2023 at Holy Cross Cemetery in the chapel at 11am.  4470 Hilltop Dr, San Diego, CA 92102

Born in Galesburg, IL. His family then moved to San Diego.  After he ran away from home at age 15 with his friend they landed in Placerville to work in the logging and paper industry.  There he went back to school and graduated.   At 18 he joined the United States Marine Corps, Moved back to San Diego and started his family.

Chuck aka Bud or grandpa buddy was the type of man you wanted in your corner, family meant the most to him, his favorite sayings were: Blood is thicker than water, You always take care of those in need,  and last but  not least nobody falls through the cracks. He was fair in all things, he had an ear to bend and a confidence to tell you were wrong and here is why, kind hearted, and always the life of the party.

Avid world traveler, comedian, hobby chef, business owner, son, husband, father, grandfather and great grandpa. He leaves behind a legacy that will be hard to live up too. Survived by his loving wife of 47 years Kathleen Sutherland, 5 of his 6 children, Tony, Joe, Mike and Mark Sutherland his daughter Julie Waasted, 6 grand children, 10 great grandchildren all who will miss him for everything he did to give us a beautiful life.
