Craig Charles Marsden

January 26, 1953 — July 31, 2021

Craig Charles Marsden, 68, of Los Angeles, passed away on Saturday,
July 31, 2021 in his childhood home.

Craig was born January 26, 1953 in San Diego, CA. He graduated from
Hoover High School in 1971 and at a young age became a tuna
fisherman in San Diego’s commercial fishing fleet. His fishing ventures
took him as far as Africa. Craig attended Southwestern Community
College then transferred and graduated from U.C. Davis with a
Bachelors of Science Degree in Plant Science (1981) Craig worked as a
Manager at Springtime Growers, Armstrong Nurseries and Green
Thumb Growers. In his 40's, Craig converted to Judaism and was an
active member of the Stephen S Wise Synagogue. In his 50's, Craig
continued his education, obtaining a Certificate in Landscape Architect
from UCLA. He then pursued and received a Single Subject Teaching
Credential. He passed the CSET in General Science I, II, III, Biology/ Life
Science, Chemistry, Earth and Planetary Science and Agricultural I, II,
and III. In his 60's, he began teaching science at Birmingham
Community Charter High School in Van Nuys, CA, where he loved
teaching and working until he had to leave due to his illness.

Craig loved the outdoors: surfing, fishing, backpacking, and gardening.
He was a lover of the arts and an avid reader. His favorite author was
J.R.R. Tolkien. Craig read the Lord of the Rings and the Silmarillion every
summer. Craig cherished his Friday night dinners with his fellow single
Dad friends; Eric, Evan and Raz and their children. He displayed his
favorite pen and ink work with his tattoos, depicting images from his
life’s story and from his favorite tattoo artist. He was a masterful and
artful Christmas tree decorator. He was not only tasked with decorating
his own tree but also his mothers and sisters trees. He enjoyed a
diverse and eclectic range of music and most recently found a love for
Salsa dancing. He was a dedicated Dodger's fan much to the dismay of
his San Diego family.

Craig will be remembered for his sense of humor, quick wit,
intelligence, perseverance, determination, and love for his family and
friends.

Craig’s father, Charles Marsden predeceased him. Craig is survived by
his two children, Dorothy and Milo, his grandson, Tyr, his mother,
Dorothy, his brother, Dean, his sister, LeeAnn, his sister-in-law, Barbara,
his two nephews, Marques and Adam, his two nieces, Jessica and
Annisa, his colleagues, and countless other friends and family members.
