Delores Young, affectionately known as "Dee," passed away on March 28, 2026, in Carlsbad, California. Born Delores Gaye Evans on September 24, 1940, in Jacksonville, Illinois, Dee lived a life marked by joy, and a deep devotion to her family and her passions.
As the matriarch of her family, Delores was beloved for her boundless love and her nickel knowledge of all things related to celebrities, movies, and Hollywood, a passion that earned her the annual distinction of winning the family Oscar poll. Her spirited enthusiasm and competitive nature were especially evident in her favorite pastimes—playing cards, Yahtzee, and a variety of board games, activities that brought family and friends together in moments of laughter and togetherness. Along with her passion for games, she had a deep love for gardening and the music of her wind chimes.
Dee delighted in spending quality time with her loved ones, particularly during the holidays. She was known for bringing her famous Bean Dip to every occasion, a culinary tradition that became synonymous with so many good times. Beyond her love of games, she also had a keen interest in shopping, an activity that further highlighted her vivacious and spirited personality.
Delores’s enduring legacy is carried forward by those who knew and loved her deeply. She is survived by her devoted husband of 67 years, Donald Young; daughters, Deanna Moyado (nee Young) and Elizabeth Kantorovich (nee Young); grandchildren Dane Bruner, Chad Bruner, Brittany Moyado, Chelsea Thomas (nee Moyado), Jordan Moyado, Brianna Kantorovich, and Sam Kantorovich; and sons-in-law, Frank Moyado and Greg Kantorovich. She was a loving sister to Roger Evans and was cherished by her sister-in-law, Young Hee Evans. She is also survived by three beautiful great granddaughters, Harley Bruner, Reegan Bruner and Presley Thomas. The family also remembers her late parents, Raymond and Berniece Evans, whose memory she honored throughout her life.
