Demarcus Joseph Dayrit, lovingly known to many as "Mark," passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 21, 2026, in San Diego, California, at the age of 31. Born on February 4, 1995, in San Diego, California, to his devoted mother, Jocelyn Jackson, Demarcus spent his childhood in National City. He attended local primary schools and proudly earned his high school diploma from Sweetwater High School. In late 2015, Demarcus worked at the Goodwill facility in San Diego. He later dedicated nearly nine years to Allied Universal Security, where he worked from July 2017 until February 20, 2026. As the eldest cousin and firstborn grandchild, Demarcus held a special place in his family. He naturally stepped into that role, and he shared a special bond with his younger brother, Joshua, especially through their shared love of gaming. Those moments were more than hobbies, they were connection, laughter, and brotherhood. He was an explorer at heart when it came to food, always eager to try new spots around town with his cousin. Those outings were about experience, storytelling, and building memories. He also had a passion for anime, enthusiastically sharing recommendations, theories, and favorite characters with anyone who showed even the slightest interest. If you talked to him long enough, you were walking away with a new show to watch. Demarcus will be remembered for his kind personality and heart. He is survived by his loving mother, Jocelyn Jackson; his brother, Joshua Jackson; his grandparents, Morris Slack and Tessie Slack (San Diego CA); his aunt, Anita Edwards uncle Fred Edwards III (Phoenix AZ); his uncle, Marcus Slack Sr. (Phoenix AZ); and a host of cousins; Jovan Haith II, Aziauna Edwards, Freddie Edwards, Toby Edwards, David Edwards, Marcus Slack Jr., Ahmani Slack, and Chantal Slack, (Friend-known as Auntie Jennifer Amerson), along with extended family members and dear friends who will carry his memory forward. Cherished for his kindness, compassion, and unwavering dedication to family and friends, he touched countless lives throughout his journey. His legacy lives on in the memories shared and the love he inspired in all who knew him. He was deeply loved. He will be deeply missed. And he will never be forgotten.
