In Loving Memory of Dolores Simanello (1924-2026)

Dolores Simanello, 101, of La Mesa, CA, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on May 2, 2026. Born to the late Charles and Vera McKeon on October 9, 1924, in Minonk, Illinois. She graduated from Minonk High School and worked as the bookkeeper in her father’s auto garage before marrying her husband James Simanello on June 12, 1948.

They moved to California in 1957 and made La Mesa their home, where Dolores became a steady presence in the community and a devoted parishioner of St. Martin of Tours Catholic Church. She built a life rooted in faith, family, and service.

Dolores is preceded in death by her beloved husband, James Simanello. Married for 53 years, their partnership was marked by enduring love, commitment, and the joy of raising their family together. Dolores poured her heart into nurturing her five children, and she delighted in the lives of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, treasuring every gathering, milestone, and shared story.

An avid volunteer at St. Martin of Tours, she gave generously of her time and talents, always ready to help wherever she was needed. Dolores was especially dedicated to the parish Bingo, where she worked faithfully for 42 years. She will be remembered for her warmth, resilience, and quiet strength, the kind that made people feel welcomed, supported, and truly loved.

Dolores is survived by her children: James Simanello, Jr., Susan Broderdorf, MaryAnn Simanello, Kathryn Connors (Christopher Connors), Judy Simanello, nine grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, sister Mary Lou Wissen, brother Charles William McKeon and was proceeded in death by brothers Leo McKeon and Johnny McKeon. She is also lovingly remembered by extended family and dear friends.

A Rosary will be held at 9:30am followed by a memorial Mass at St. Martin of Tours Catholic Church in La Mesa on May 22, 2026, at 10:00am.
