We announce the death of Dorothy Jean Zoellner of San Diego, California. She passed away peacefully on August 22, 2026, at the age of 85. Dorothy Jean was born to Cleo John and Adeline Jane Dobson on February 21, 1941. She is survived by her daughters Lisa Gail, Jodi Lynn, step-son William and her sister Nancy. Her memory also lives on in her grandchildren Ashley, Chase, Kourtney, and Kaylee, and her great-grandchildren Landen, Bradyn, Evelynn and Dustin.

Dottie lived her life with zest and dedication. She retired from Kaiser after 25 years as an ultrasound technician. After raising her two girls on her own she married Larry Zoellner. She loved traveling and seeing new things, exploring historical sites, monuments, and parks with Larry as well as visiting Europe and Hawaii with her daughters. Those who knew Dottie loved her and her great sense of humor. When asked how she was doing, her typical response was, "Finer than frog hair." She was kind and loving in daily life, but also a fierce cribbage player who liked to win. If you didn't know the rules, they may have changed from game to game. Dottie loved her dog and would save part of her dinner to "bring home" to share with Princess, even ice cream. Always social, Dottie was an Honored Queen in Jobs daughter's, she was the secretary of a Stock Club, member of a quilting club, volunteered with the animal shelter, was a member of the Highway Patrol Senior volunteers and joined the WOW group after Larry passed. She made friends everywhere she went. Her favorite place to be was with loved ones, especially during the holidays. Gathering for Thanksgiving was the highlight of her year.

Dottie worked hard and dedicated her life to her family, friends and the betterment of others. She volunteered with animals, worked with the disabled and was a role model of strength and perseverance. The light of her beautiful soul will shine on in the memory we hold. She will be missed and cherished in those memories forever.
