Eleanore Louise Reid, known affectionately to family and friends as "Elly," passed away on June 3, 2026, in San Diego after a courageous and lengthy battle with an autoimmune disease. Born on February 18, 1956, in Thief River Falls, Minnesota, Elly lived a life marked by warmth, humor, and an unwavering commitment to those she loved.

Elly’s kindness and welcoming nature were the foundation of her character. She cherished family above all else, always prioritizing their needs even as she faced her own health challenges with remarkable strength and positivity. Her home was a haven of togetherness, where Sunday dinners were a cherished tradition and the holiday gatherings—especially the grand Thanksgiving celebrations—were hosted with great love and tireless dedication. These events were more than mere occasions; they were expressions of Elly's generous spirit and her heartfelt desire to create a sense of belonging and joy for all who attended.

A woman of many interests and talents, Elly found great pleasure in playing soccer and golf, activities she enjoyed with her teammates and close friends. Her spirited participation and the joy she derived from these pastimes reflected her lively and jovial personality. Known for her great sense of humor and love of practical jokes, she had a unique gift for lightening any room she entered and making others feel at ease.

Elly was born Eleanore Louise Kiewel and carried her maiden name with pride. She is survived by her loving husband, Thomas Reid, and their children: Michael Reid, Nicole Waluk, Jeffrey Reid, and Elle Reid. Her legacy continues through her beloved grandchildren, Meadow Waluk, Sheppard Waluk, Madison Reid, Leto Reid, Indiana Reid, and Makenna Reid, who were the light of her life. She also leaves behind her siblings, Richard Kiewel, Paul Kiewel, Henry Kiewel, John Kiewel, and Alice Christenson, who shared in her life's journey.
