Elizabeth Jean Mello

Elizabeth "Betty" Mello, 93, of San Diego, California passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 21, 2022 in Fort Wayne, IN with family at her side. Betty was born Elizabeth Jean Crews on April 26, 1929 in Brinkley, AR. She married John Francis Mello in 1948. Betty and Johnny were married for 58 years before Johnny’s passing in 2006. Together they proudly raised seven children: Cliff, Steve, John "Doug", Cheryl, Wayne, David, and Tim.

Betty is survived by all seven children, one son-in-law, six daughters-in-law, twenty grandchildren, thirty-three great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren.

Betty worked in the foodservice industry for many years until her retirement whereupon she enjoyed reading, painting, and taking numerous cruises and trips to Hawaii with Johnny.

Betty's memorial service will be held on October 12 at 10:30 AM at Rosecrans National Cemetery.
