Ellen Jane Rhein

Ellen Rhein was born to Guy and Elizabeth Emerson February 17, 1931, in Port Townsend, Washington and died January 29, 2023.  She was raised in Port Townsend and graduated from high school there in 1949.  She attended the University of Washington where she was an active member of the Kappa Delta sorority.  In 1953 she graduated with a degree in Business Education.  She taught high school business classes.  In 1955 she met her husband, Robert Rhein, and they were married in 1956.  In 1962 the family moved to La Canada California where Ellen raised her five children and was active in her church, St Bede’s, the PTA and Kappa Delta.  From 1980 to 2000 the family lived in Ridgecrest California. In 2000 she retired to San Diego.  She is survived by her sisters Joan Long and Nancy Chase, her children, Alden, Mark, Kathleen, Dirck and Jane, 15 grandchildren and five great grandchildren.  Memorial April 15 11AM at Ascension Catholic Parish.
