Eugene "Gene" Edward Bugawisan passed away on April 17, 2026 at home with his daughters by his side.  He leaves behind a legacy of hard work, devotion to family, and a life well lived. A skilled mechanic for over 30 years, Gene took great pride in his craft. He was known for his steady hands, sharp mind, and the satisfaction he found in fixing what others could not.

Outside of his work, Gene found joy in life’s simple pleasures. He enjoyed spending hours working on jigsaw puzzles, trying his luck at the casino, and most of all, gathering with loved ones. He cherished time with family—sharing stories, laughter, and meals, especially during pig roasts where he was happiest surrounded by those he loved.

Gene was a man of many talents who always believed in staying busy. Whether working with his hands or connecting with others, he brought dedication and warmth to everything he did.

He is survived by his loving family, including his two daughters, seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren, who will carry forward his memory and the values he instilled in them. Gene will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who knew him.

A family service will be held at Miramar National Cemetary on May 28, 2026. 

A Celebration of Gene’s Life will be held on Friday, May 29, 2026 at Guardian Angels Catholic Church in Santee. More details to be posted soon.
