Let us go then, you and I, When the evening is spread out against the sky
- The Love Song of J Alfred Prufrock by
TS Elliott
Gene was a husband, a dad, a friend, a Veteran, a Grateful Dead fan...some even think he was a spy. With a complex brain and a strong presence, he left us with many fascinating stories and memories. After a long battle with COPD and cancer, he passed away Feb 24, 2026. He held strong: Even doing a NYT crossword just six days before passing. He did so much his life was always a puzzle, which has made it hard to summarize him in an obituary.
He served in the Air Force from 1957-61 exiting just before the Vietnam war to study Sciences. Gene possessed a powerful mathematical mind and Graduated UCSD Phi Beta Kappa with a PhD in physics. He traveled the world as a contractor with the Navy teaching math and even crossed the equator on the USS midway. The time inspired his interest in historic military planes and he learned to pilot among many other mechanical skills. He is survived by his sister, two daughters and wife. Please share your memories of him in the comments below and sign the guestbook.
In lieu of gifts we request you please donate to your preferred local Veterans charity
