Eve Clark Cummings

Evelyn “Eve” Lee Clark Cummings, 79, passed away peacefully on August 5, 2026, in Santee, California.

Eve was born on October 25, 1946, in New Orleans, Louisiana. She lived a life that was far from easy, but she never let life’s hardships harden her heart. Instead, they helped shape her into a woman whose compassion knew no bounds. She dreamed big, loved deeply, and found joy in helping others whenever she could.

Her greatest gift was her heart—a heart that was selfless, generous, forgiving, and always searching for ways to make someone else’s life a little brighter.

After the loss of their mother, Eve took on the responsibility of helping raise her younger siblings, Anne and Brian, surrounding them with endless love and care and becoming a source of strength and stability during one of the most difficult times of their lives.

Eve had a diverse and dedicated work history. She worked in the shipbuilding industry at NASSCO and later became a licensed childcare provider. She also worked as a behavioral counselor and aide before eventually finishing her working career in retail. No matter where she worked or what job she held, her caring nature and genuine kindness touched the lives of those around her.

Eve’s passions were as big as her heart. She had a lifelong love of animals, especially horses and cats. She owned and rode horses and was an early believer in animal rescue and fostering, opening her home to cats in need and passing that love and compassion for animals on to those around her.

She also had a lifelong love of comics. Eve and her husband, Dave, owned a popular comic book store and were among the original vendors at the very first San Diego Comic-Con, becoming part of the early history of an event that would eventually grow into an internationally renowned cultural phenomenon.

Eve was preceded in death by her parents, Mrs. Ruth Moore Holt and Lee Roy Clark Jr.; her beloved brother, Thomas L. Clark; her son-in-law, Wesley Dallas; her son, Ronald Macomber; and her cherished grandchildren, Ethan Dallas and Krista Macomber.

She is survived by her loving husband, David Cummings; her daughter, Rebecca Dallas; her son, Travis Macomber (Monica); her grandchildren, Cory, Victor, Alicia, Angelina, Arielle, Nathan, and Dylan; and her great-grandchildren, Aurora, Brixton, and Iris.

She is also survived by her sister, Anne; her brothers, Steve Clark (Daryn) and Brian Holt (Steven); as well as nieces, nephews, many cousins, extended family members, and friends whose lives were made richer by knowing her.

Eve’s family would like to express their heartfelt thanks to the staff at Stanford Court Nursing Center for the loving care they provided, treating Eve like family and making her feel at home. The family would also like to thank Apreva Hospice for the compassion, guidance, and support they provided to Eve and her family during this difficult time.

A celebration of Eve’s life will be announced at a later date.
