Fernando Espana, 93, was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He was born in Calexico California, where he met and married his wife, Heniretta. After graduating from high school, Fernando joined the National Guard, then went on to serve in the U.S. Army. He did a tour of duty in Vietnam and was also deployed to Thule, Greenland, Germany, and South Korea. After serving 20 years in the Army he retired and moved his family to San Diego in 1972, where he became a high school math teacher at Mt. MIguel High School. He is survived by his beloved wife, Henrietta, his daughter Ana, his sons Fernando III, David and Rick, along with six grandchildren and seven grandchildren.
