Frank Otley Stutler Jr.

Frank O. Stutler, Jr., born in Big Stone City, South Dakota, passed away with his family at his side just one week after the passing of his beloved wife, Audrey.

On April 23, 1960, he married Audrey M. Storm of Milbank, South Dakota, and together they built a loving home in San Diego, California, where they raised their three daughters: Susie, Lisa, and Leslie. Frank proudly served in the United States Navy for 28 years, a career that took him overseas for extended periods of time. Throughout his years of service, Frank often credited Audrey as the steady foundation of their family, holding down the fort during his many deployments.

After retiring from the Navy, Frank started his own business, Frank’s Home Maintenance, providing lawn care and home improvement services to his community. He took great pride in working with his hands and was happiest outdoors—whether fixing, building, or tending to his yard, where he grew beautiful roses and delicious tomatoes.

Frank had a lifelong love of hunting and fishing, enjoyed horses, and had a creative, artistic side. He cherished the time he spent with his grandchildren and generously shared his practical skills and knowledge with his family; his daughters will always be grateful for the lessons he passed on. Frank was known for his sense of humor and friendly nature, which helped him build many lasting friendships over the years.

In retirement, he continued to serve others by volunteering with the Retired Senior Volunteer Patrol (RSVP) in San Diego and La Mesa, and by assisting at the food pantry at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church.

Frank is survived by his daughters; his son-in-law, Bill; and five grandchildren—Kelly (Timur), Kevin (Elise), Christopher, Kallen, and Nicholas—all of whom treasured their time with “Papa” dearly.

A private family funeral will be held at St. Therese Catholic Church, with interment at Miramar National Cemetery.

Frank will always be remembered for his dedication to his family, his strong work ethic, his quiet generosity, and of course, his love for his red truck and country music.
