George Thomas Wichelns Jr.

George T. Wichelns, Jr., 75, formerly of Mechanicville, New York, passed away on Friday, March 13, 2026. George was a member of Mechanicville High School’s Class of 1968. George was predeceased by his parents, George T. Wichelns, Sr. and Jayne Gilheany Wichelns, and his sister, Marilyn (Lynn) Thompson. George is survived by the love of his life, Elizabeth Gutierrez, his daughter, Dawn (Adam) Spaulding of Florida, brothers, Joseph (Sharon), Lawrence (Joan), Charles (Lisa) Wichelns, and sister, Mary E. Timpanaro, Aunts Marianne Kerls and Joan Thompson, many cousins, nieces and nephews. George enjoyed a 20 year career in the Navy, serving in the Gulf War, and retired as a First Class Petty Officer in the San Diego area. George was young at heart, and was loved and admired by his family. He always remembered them with phone calls and email greetings at birthdays and holidays. George was an avid baseball fan his whole life having played baseball when he was young. His funeral service and burial will be held in April 16th 2pm at the Miramar National Cemetery in San Diego. Donations made in loving memory of George may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project.
