Glen Stuart Savage

November 17, 1952 — August 18, 2021

It is with deep sadness that we announce that on Wednesday, August 18, 2021, Glen Stuart Savage passed away at the age of 68.

Glen was born on November 17, 1952 in Los Angeles, CA to Mary and Keith Savage. He earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Business in 1975. He worked in Document Control/Quality Assurance at General Dynamics Convair Division for 15 years, then moved into the Biomedical field working at Gen-Probe, San Diego Blood Bank and Cytori Therapeutics. He retired in February 2019 while spending 18 days in the Sharp Hospital ICU due to multiple strokes. His wife Carolyn is very grateful to God that Glen recovered to spend another 2 ½ years in her care. He was married to Carolyn Rose Bada on April 25, 1981 in Youngstown, Ohio. During their 40 years of marriage, Glen was the proud “dad” to many cats including Zsa Zsa, Finkelstein, Siva Biela, Flower de Peu, Katty Annie, Holly, Lewis and Bonnie, all rescues.

Glen was a devout Catholic who put loving God first in his life. He was known as a gentle and kind soul with a quick wit and compassionate spirit. As his friend commented, “If everyone was like Glen, there would be peace in the world.” He enjoyed classical music, putting 5,000 piece puzzles together and frequently using his membership in SeaWorld San Diego and San Diego Zoo Wildlife Alliance. Glen donated over 30 gallons of blood in 202 lifetime donations to the San Diego Blood Bank.

Glen was preceded in death by his father Keith Savage, mother Mary Netusil (husband Jan) and his brother Alan Savage. He is loved and deeply missed by his most beloved wife Carolyn, his sister Suzanne White (husband Richard), cousin Jeanette Shumaker (husband Andy), sisters-in-law Elaine Donchess (husband John), Marlene Savage, Maryann Heim (husband Charles), Christine Ausnehmer (husband Gregg) and many nieces and nephews.

A Memorial Mass was held on August 23, 2021 at St. Therese Parish. An additional Memorial Service will be held on September 4, 2021 at Kinnick Funeral Home in Youngstown, Ohio. Donations may be sent to Sharp Hospice Care, 8881 Fletcher Parkway, Suite 336, La Mesa, CA 91942.
