It is with great sorrow to announce that Grace Agnes (Pat) Worthy-Walter, age 77, of El Cajon, CA passed away suddenly on October 31, 2023 at a local hospital.
Pat was born on November 30, 1945 to James H. Hennessey and Mary Angela Hennessey (McDonough) in Dayton, OH.
Pat attended Nazareth School San Diego and graduated from Burroughs High School in Ridgecrest, CA. In addition to her academics, Pat excelled on the Gymnastics and Trampoline Teams, she performed as the Burroughs High School Mascot, and ran on the school Track Team.
Pat won the Junior Chambers of Commerce Miss Ridgecrest Contest and enjoyed serving Ridgecrest in this capacity. Pat and her twin sister Myke were known for their acrobatic abilities and performed in many local parades.
Pat married John Worthy and later in life Louis Walter, both of whom proceeded her in death. Pat and John had a son Charles (Paris) Worthy who is currently hiking on in Europe.
At the time of her death, Pat was employed at the San Diego Branch of CSC Security, since the beginning of the local branch. Pat’s colleagues admired her strong work ethics, leadership skills, compassion, and kindness. Several considered her a role model at work and commented on her kind understanding. She is considered a tremendous loss and will be greatly missed by her friends and colleagues.
Several former teachers of Nazareth School San Diego commented on the fact that Pat and her twin sister Myke, were always the biggest hit at the Annual Nazareth School Halloween Carnival because of their fantastic matching costumes.
Pat is survived by her son Charles (Paris) Worthy, a brother Thomas, Michael Hennessey (wife Jutta Hennessey Wenig) of Odessa, TX; her twin-sister Mary Angela (Myke) Ayala of San Diego, CA; her sister Elizabeth Ellen Hennessey (Sister Gertrude, CSN) of Los Angeles, CA; and her partner James Coleman of El Cajon, CA. Pat is also survived by several nieces, Michelle Ayala of Pala, CA; Jennifer Hennessey Anderson of Englewood, CO; and Jamie Hennessey of Portland, OR; and six grand-nieces and grand-nephew.
Pat was preceded in death by her parents James and Mary Hennessey; brothers James Anthony Hennessey and Timothy Patrick Hennessey; a niece and nephew Shawna and Golden Hennessey; and a brother-in-law, Gabriel C. Ayala.
A celebration of her life will be held on Wednesday, November 15, 2023 at 10:00 a.m., at the Mission San Diego Alcalá, St Francis Chapel. A reception will follow in the California Room below the St. Francis Chapel.
Internment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery, San Diego CA at 2:30 p.m.
