Irene Olga Turiansky Weston

Irene Weston passed away at the age of 81 on Sunday, December 14, 2025, in El Cajon, California.

Irene was born on March 7, 1944, to V. Rev. Peter and Anna Lucas Turiansky in Buffalo, N.Y. Soon thereafter, the family moved to their beloved farm in Stockton, N.Y. Irene went through school in the old Stockton schoolhouse and junior high at Cassadaga Valley Central School. The family moved to San Diego, Calif., when she was 15. She graduated from Clairemont High School in 1961 and obtained her bachelor’s degree in music from San Diego State College in 1965.

During her teens and early adulthood, Irene devoted herself to giving private piano lessons, dancing at the House of Ukraine in Balboa Park, conducting choir at St. George Serbian Orthodox Church, and playing prima in the parish tamburica orchestra.

Irene met her future husband, Douglas Turner Weston, at court reporting school in San Diego. They married at St. George Church in 1971 and moved to Glendale, Calif. the following year. They became court reporting instructors at Downey Adult School Career and Education Center, where Irene later became program director. They worked in these positions until retirement. Irene returned to the San Diego area in 2025 to be closer to family.

Irene is survived by her brother, Basil Turiansky; nephews, Joseph, Peter, and John San Filippo, and Gary Console; nieces, Sarah Huling and Hannah Lee; and several great- and great-great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her sisters, Eugenia San Filippo and Vera Console, and her husband, Doug.

A public viewing will be held from 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. on January 4, 2026 at Featheringill Mortuary, 6322 El Cajon Blvd, in San Diego. The funeral will be held at St. George Serbian Orthodox Church, 3025 Denver St., San Diego, at 10:30 a.m. on January 5, followed by graveside services at noon at Mount Hope Cemetery in San Diego. Doug’s ashes will also be interred with Irene’s remains.
