Jean Ellen Coleman

Coleman, Jean Ellen, (nee Simonis) asleep in Jesus on July 9, 2026, after a brief battle with two aggressive forms of cancer. She is survived by a brother, Peter Simonis of Missouri and brother-in-law, Lawrence Driscoll also of Missouri. She was a loving aunt, cousin and friend to many that met her.

For over 45 years, Jean dedicated her life to the ministry of Catholic education where she began as a homeroom teacher, then served as Vice-Principal at St. Charles Borromeo Academy in Point Loma. In 2000 she joined the School of the Madeleine in San Diego as Vice-Principal and in 2018 became Principal before retiring in 2023.

A memorial mass to celebrate Jean’s life will be held on Saturday, July 25th at 10:00 am at St. Mary Magdalene Church. In lieu of flowers, donations to the American Cancer Society would be appreciated.
