Joan Carole Stites

Joan Carole Stites, a cherished member of her family and community, died on August 31, 2025, at the age of 81. Born on May 16, 1944, Joan lived a life characterized by her dedication to her family, her unique personality, and her commitment to education.

Joan was a devoted wife and homemaker for 60 years, nurturing a warm and loving environment for her family to thrive. She will be dearly missed by her husband, Francis Stites, and her daughters, Madelaine Stites and Audrey Stites Honeycutt.  Joan took immense joy in spending time with her family, relishing shared moments during birthdays and holidays that created lasting memories.

An accomplished individual, she earned her undergraduate degree at New York University, where she was recognized with the esteemed Phi Beta Kappa honor. Joan further pursued her education by obtaining a Master's degree in Psychology at Indiana University and acquiring a teaching credential from San Diego State University. Her intelligence and dedication to learning served as an inspiration to those around her.

As a person, Joan was known for her honesty, loving nature, and profound intelligence. She had a variety of interests that enriched her life, including nature hikes, cooking, painting, and reading. These hobbies not only brought her joy but also allowed her to share her passions with others.

Joan was an accomplished artist and created countless beautiful paintings.  Her artwork shows her talent and ability to capture the essence of a scene, animal, and people.

Joan's legacy continues through her beloved grandchildren: Alexandra Moseley, Ethan Honeycutt, Abigail Honeycutt, and Nicholas Moseley, who brought her great pride and happiness.

Her passing leaves a significant void in the lives of her family and friends, who will remember her with deep affection and gratitude for the love and wisdom she imparted. Joan Carole Stites’ life serves as a testament to the power of family, education, and passion. She will be forever in their hearts as they celebrate the remarkable life she led.
