Joloise Taylor Calkins

October 21, 1930 — May 30, 2022

Joloise, a native San Diegan, was born on October 21, 1930, to Harry Estel and Olga Josephine Taylor. With a genuine love for her family and friends, Joloise was a woman with a beautiful heart and welcoming smile.

On May 30, 2022, Joloise (91) passed away peacefully in her Spring Valley home with loved ones by her side.

Having graduated from San Diego High School in 1948, she went on to San Diego City College where she got her Associate Degree. She enjoyed many high school reunions throughout the years.

Joloise married Bernard “Dean” Stolte. Together for 20 yrs., they had four children. Actively involved in the community and raising her children, the family attended Lemon Grove Lutheran Church.

She later married Duane “Dewey” Calkins and gained a stepdaughter Sandra. Joloise and Dewey

spent 16 yrs. together prior to his death in 2010. They loved traveling, camping, fishing, and visiting with family.

Joloise retired from the US Postal Service after working 25yrs. She enjoyed spending time bowling, going to the beach, dancing, making fairy gardens and of course shopping.

While fighting many illnesses with stubborn endurance, Joloise taught everyone to never give up and always offered a smile.

Joloise is survived by her four children, Craig Stolte (Melody) of Texas, Bradley Stolte, Denise Jacques, and Joloise Deanne Ivery (Robert), all of San Diego, Stepdaughter, Sandra Lewis (Andrew) of Texas; Her sister Ardis Lewis of La Pine, Oregon, and brother Jon Taylor (Linda) of Gilbert, Arizona.

Predeceased by her sister Betty Flor (Kenneth) and her brother Harry Taylor (Patricia).

She will be greatly missed by all who loved her including her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, friends, and neighbors.

Celebration of Life to be held later.
