Josephine Theresa Gastellum

Josephine Theresa Gastellum, 91, went home to be with the Lord, peacefully, on March 22, 2024, with family by her side.

Jo was born on August 30, 1932, in Chicago to Louis and Josephine Faiella.  She met the love of her life, Ralph, in Honolulu, Hawaii, and they married on December 9, 1952.  They moved to Ralph’s hometown, San Diego, where they had two children, Lynn and Mary Jean.

Jo worked for the City and the County of San Diego for many years.  She loved sewing and crafting, and enjoyed selling her crafts at craft shows and meeting and making many friends.  She started a quilt ministry at her church, and held classes teaching jewelry making and crafts.

Jo loved the Lord with all her heart and it showed in all she did.  She knew a lot of people and would run into them wherever she went.  She had an outgoing personality, and will remembered for her love, generosity, and humor.

Jo is survived by her husband of 71 years,  Ralph, daughters Lynn and Mary Jean, son-in-law Daryll, granddaughter Jennifer and her husband Chris, and great grandchildren Beau and Jack.

Jo donated much of her crafting earnings to Rancho Santa Marta. In lieu of flowers we know she would have appreciated a donation of goods or funds to this nonprofit. https://www.ranchosantamarta.org/
