Karon was born in Iowa on February 7th, 1943, to Nina Conley and Raymond Kading, and was the 2nd oldest of 3 children. Karon moved to San Diego and spent most of her career working for San Diego Gas and Electric. After the passing of her first husband, Karon married Ted Jarrard in 1982. Karon and Ted frequently traveled the world together, visiting amazing locations across the globe.
Karon was a member of the Clairmont Emmanuel Baptist Church located in San Diego, California and a lifetime member of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR), a non-profit volunteer women’s service organization. Over her 29-year association with the DAR, Karon served as Vice Regent, Chapter Regent, California State Regent, and Corresponding Secretary General. On any given evening, Karon could be found knitting clothing for families in need, making a prayer shawl for a cancer patient, or putting together gift baskets for veterans. Karon was also an organized keeper of the genealogical record for both her and Ted’s side of the family, and a skilled life-writing mentor to many in the DAR.
Karon is survived by her beloved sister Cheryl, her nephews Raymond, Kevin (and wife Melinda), and Randy (and wife Kim), great nephew Chris and great niece Nicki, as well as her grandchildren through marriage Laura, Tammy, Rebekah, and Elisabeth, and great-grandchildren Noah, Joseph, Logan, Hannah, Ari, and Shafer.
