Mrs. Kathleen A. Gomes, 90, died peacefully on the morning of August 10, 2023, at home surrounded by her children. She was known as “Kitty” to most, Mom to her four children, Grandma to her six grandchildren, and Aunt Kitty to many nieces and nephews.

Kitty was born in St. Joseph, Missouri, on June 13, 1933, to Richard Farrell Keller and Ruth Hahn Keller. She moved to Point Loma in San Diego, California, in 1945, and graduated from Point Loma High School where she met and later married her high school sweetheart, Manuel “Manny” Gomes Jr., in 1952.

Kitty is survived by her daughter Ruthann (Wilkins) Mobley; daughter Victoria Ayers; son Manuel “Manny” Gomes III and his partner Sara Mancilla; daughter Cecelia Foley and her husband Chuck Foley; grandsons Shaun Wilkins and Jason Wilkins; grandson Manuel Gomes IV, granddaughter Mackenzie Brown and her husband Alec Brown; granddaughters Claireese Foley and Charlotte Foley. Kitty is also survived by her former son-in-law Arnold Wilkins; goddaughter Carolyn (Keller) Oldham; sister-in-law Ellen Keller; sister-in-law Jean Gomes; brother-in-law Fred Gomes and his wife Helen; and brother-in-law Noah Gomes and his wife Karen.

Kitty was predeceased by her husband of sixty-three incredible years, Manny Gomes Jr.; her parents Richard and Ruth Keller; brother Wally and his wife Bernice; sister Patricia and her husband Louis DiIorio; brother Richard and his wife Fran; sister Ruth Ann (Sr. Mary Chrysostom); brother Jerry Keller; former sister-in-law Lois Keller; son-in-law Paul Mobley; and son-in-law Tom Ayers.

Kitty enjoyed singing, playing piano, dancing, hosting parties, cooking, baking (including her famous lemon meringue pies, which she entered in contests at the Del Mar Fair), flower arranging, bingo, slot machines, game nights, laughing, and most of all, spending time with her loving and devoted family.

Kitty will be deeply and dearly missed by her family and friends. She will be interred with her husband, Manny, at the Miramar National Cemetery.

A Rosary and Service will be held at Featheringill Mortuary, 6322 El Cajon Boulevard, on Saturday, September 9th, at 12:30 p.m., followed by a Reception.
