Kimberly Anne McCoy, beloved wife, mother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully at home on June 19, 2025, after a courageous battle with stage IV breast cancer. She was 58.
Born on October 9, 1966, in La Mesa, California, Kim spent nearly 40 years as a dedicated insurance professional. Known for her strong work ethic, she also helped introduce several family members to the industry.
Kim was married to the love of her life, Richard McCoy, for 36 years. Together they raised three wonderful children, Lauren, Kayla, and David, who meant the world to her.
Kim had a vibrant personality and a wide range of interests that she loved sharing with those closest to her. She was a spirited competitor during game nights, and she enjoyed hiking and beach days with friends, wine tasting outings, and getaways to Las Vegas with Rich. She also loved watching reality TV with her kids and spending time with her beloved dogs. Kim formed deep, lasting friendships wherever she went. Her humor, warmth, and unmistakable sparkle made her the kind of person everyone loved being around.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Joe and Nona Cunningham; her brother, John Cunningham; and her godson, Adam Iverson. She is survived by her husband, Rich; her children, Lauren, Kayla (Chris Johnson), and David; her sisters, Kathy, Karen, and Sarah; her brothers, Mike and Steve; and many dear friends and extended family members who will miss her deeply. The family extends their heartfelt thanks to Leslie for the loving care and support she provided to Kim in her final weeks.
A funeral Mass will be held on Monday, June 30, 2025, at 11:00am. at Our Lady of Perpetual Help in Lakeside, followed by burial at Singing Hills Memorial Park in El Cajon.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Kim’s name to METAvivor, an organization dedicated to metastatic breast cancer research.
