Loretta Louise Crow, born June 17, 1947, passed away in San Diego on June 10, 2025 after a short illness.
After growing up in Alhambra, California, and attending Mark Keppel High School, Loretta surrendered to wanderlust and found herself studying biology at the University of Alaska Anchorage. She often talked of her adventures in sailing, bird watching, and her time on the radio. In later years, her penchant for bird watching evolved into a never-ending quest to lure hummingbirds to her window.
Inspired by Rachel Carson's Silent Spring, she put her degree to work and pursued a career in environmental consulting. She was a voracious reader and always found time for her true love...writing. She once said that being a writer meant she'd have the last word in any argument.
She is survived by her son (Robert), daughter (Leanne), and four grandchildren (Gwenyth, Gillian, Erick, and Andrew). She will be missed tremendously, but her memory and her writings endure.
A graveside service will be held on July 2, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at Singing Hills Memorial Park, El Cajon, California
