Margaret "Peggy" Geisler

Margaret "Peggy" Geisler, a cherished wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, peacefully left this world on July 23, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family. Born on October 16, 1936, in Waukegan, Illinois, Peggy was the beloved daughter of James and Pauline Donohue, who preceded her in passing along with her youngest daughter, Pauline Geisler.

Peggy's life was a testament to love, devotion, and friendship. She celebrated 68 beautiful years of marriage with her devoted husband, Arthur, whom she wed on July 26, 1958, in San Diego, California. Together, they created a home filled with warmth and laughter, nurturing their three daughters and creating a legacy of love that spans generations.

Peggy is survived by her loving husband of 68 years, Arthur; daughters Kathleen Buczynski, alongside her husband Donald, and Eileen Calestini, with her husband Mark. She leaves behind her adored grandchildren: Nick Buczynski, his wife Ivy, and their son Lance, Julie Brett, and Jason Calestini, all of whom carry forward her spirit and love.

Her role as a homemaker was one she cherished, crafting a nurturing environment for her family with homemade bread, fruit roll-ups, peach cobbler, and fresh canned fruits. Beyond her household, Peggy extended her talents to Grossmont High School in La Mesa, where she served as an administrative assistant until her retirement in 2002. She demonstrated her leadership skills through leading a girl scout troop, teaching swimming and leading various activities through the church.

For over 50 years, Peggy was an active member of Santa Sophia Parish in Casa De Oro. Together with Arthur, they were instrumental in the Parish Utility Builders and played a pivotal role in organizing the Cursillo retreats, enriching the spiritual lives of many.

Peggy's love for the outdoors was rooted in her childhood, where camping and fishing trips with her parents became cherished traditions that she passed on to her children. The family camped at the Sierras every summer with their grandparents, rolling into the campground with their car loaded to the top with camping gear, three children and canoe. This was the family’s favorite tradition, one that is talked about continuously.

Peggy enjoyed crafting, sewing, reading, and spending quality time with her family. This included shopping and going to lunch with her daughters, something she always looked forward to. Her home was a haven for friends and family. Her home was fondly known as the "party" house, where good food, Irish music and sounds of laughter were always in abundance. She, along with husband Arthur, enjoyed trips with their closest friends, including to her favorite countries, Ireland and Scotland. She chronicled all her travel adventures which will be enjoyed by her children and grandchildren for years to come.

Peggy had an extraordinary ability to make everyone feel welcome. She was a wonderful listener and had great words of wisdom to pass on to those that needed or asked for her input. Her warmth and kindness left a lasting impression on those who had the privilege of knowing her.

In honoring Peggy's memory, the family kindly suggests donations be made to a Hospice charity of your choice or to the Cabrillo National Monument Foundation. They extend heartfelt gratitude to the staff of Visiting Angels, especially Iliana who cared for Peggy in her last few months, and to the team at Montera Senior Living for their compassionate and attentive care during Peggy's final days.

Peggy's legacy is one of love, kindness, and an unwavering sense of community. Her memory will forever be cherished by those whose lives she touched with her gentle spirit and generous heart.
