Marguerite Ann
Gallen-Toles
Oct 18, 1953 — May 2, 2026
Marguerite Ann Gallen-Toles, known affectionately to all who loved her as Margo, drifted peacefully from this world on May 2, 2026, in San Diego, exactly 10 years to the day that her husband Walter went to heaven. Born on October 18, 1953, in West Hempstead, New York, Marguerite’s vibrant spirit and indomitable heart shaped every corner of her richly lived 72 years.
Raised with a deep sense of connection and kindness, Margo graduated from Inglewood High School in 1971 before pursuing her passion for language through English studies in college. But it was the art of human connection that defined her life more profoundly than any degree or title. Over 30 years as a financial planner at boutique firms in San Diego, Margo helped countless families plan for their futures. Her pride in her work was palpable, woven with the joy she found in guiding others toward security and hope.
Margo was not just a planner of finances, but a planner of moments—delicate and sweet. Her love manifested most deliciously through the fragrant breads and cookies she baked whenever family and friends gathered—a tangible symbol of her care. Those closest to her knew her as everybody’s best friend, the kind of soul who could light a room with laughter and draw strangers into a bond that felt eternal. She was the life of any party and wielded an extraordinary sense of humor that made every encounter unforgettable.
In her private world, Margo’s precision and taste were legendary. The immaculate cleanliness of her home was often joked about—as if one could eat off the floors, this was a home curated with a loving hand and eye for beauty. Music was her sanctuary. Earth Wind & Fire held a special place in her heart, with over 40 concerts attended, each a treasured memory among many. Whether traveling to new places or belting out karaoke tunes, Margo found joy in the melodies that framed her life.
More than anything, Margo was proud of her family. She was a beloved mother to Ashley Lansdown, whose presence in her life was a source of endless pride and love. She is also deeply missed by her sister Monica Turner, brother-in-law Jim Turner, niece Meghan Turner, and cousin Dierdre Ainbinder. David Sipowicz, her best friend, stood by her side through thick and thin and was undoubtedly her life partner after her husband Walter passed in 2016.
Despite a fierce battle with multiple cancers in recent years, Marguerite’s spirit remained unyielding. She fought valiantly, never letting her illness quench the light within her. Her courage and tenacity reflected the boundless capacity for love and connection that characterized her existence.
Marguerite Ann Gallen-Toles leaves behind a legacy of laughter, warmth, and incomparable friendship. To know her was to be enveloped in the rare gift of genuine belonging. It is through the stories shared around tables, the songs that filled the air, and the joyous dance of her spirit that she will live on—forever a best friend, a devoted mother, and a radiant soul whose melody will echo endlessly in the hearts she touched.
