Listen to Obituary

Mark Aaron Rillos of San Diego, California, passed away on June 25, 2026. He was a beloved son, brother, nephew, cousin, and friend, and he is deeply missed.

Mark was born in Woodland, California, on June 12, 1985, to Ernest “Ernie” and Denise Tracy Rillos. Growing up, he lived in Davis, California; San Diego; Okinawa, Japan; and Yuma, Arizona, where he graduated from Kofa High School. He earned a bachelor's degree from the University of Arizona.

Mark loved his family, his friends, and his pets with his whole heart. He had a gift for making people laugh and could strike up a conversation with just about anyone, usually leaving them smiling by the time it ended. Whether you knew him for years or minutes, he made you feel welcome.

He was a lifelong fan of the Padres and the Arizona Wildcats, and was still upset with the Chargers for moving to LA. Music was another passion. He curated epic playlists and collected records. He was usually the first one on the dance floor and the last one to leave it. He had a green thumb and cared for a thriving collection of houseplants.

Mark is survived by his mother, Tracy Rillos and sister, Laura Rillos, both of San Diego, as well as numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Ernest Rillos, M.D.

A celebration of life will be planned later this year. The family will share details when available.
