Mary Helen Poovey

Mary H. (Cannon) Poovey, formerly of Spring Hill, TN, passed away on February 28, 2026 at the age of 93 in San Diego, CA. Mary dedicated her life to the care of others as a devoted nurse, serving communities in both Tennessee and California.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Lamar Preston Poovey; her sister, Marie Cannon Ward; and her brother, Carson Cannon.

Mary’s legacy lives on through her three sons: Wayne Preston (Melanie) Poovey, Richard Daryl (Cheryl) Poovey, and Alan Lee (Kimberly) Poovey. She was a cherished grandmother to 8 and a proud great-grandmother to 13.

The family requests in Lieu of flowers, memorial donations be made to the Wounded Warrior Project.

Visitation and  service will be held in Tennessee. Arrangements are incomplete at this time.
