Forever Aztec Moves On

Peter Bryan passed away of natural causes on May 12, 2024 in Los Angeles, California. He was born to Larry and Gayle Bryan in Downey, California on October 16, 1969. The family later moved to Orange County where he attended Newport Harbor High. He was fortunate to participate in their fine aquatic program coached by the legendary Olympic coach, Bill Barnett. He competed on the water polo team and swim team. This helped prepare him in becoming an EMT and lifeguard for the cities of Costa Mesa and Newport Beach while he was attending Orange Coast Community College.

He later transferred to San Diego State where he earned a degree in City Planning. He remained an avid fan and supporter of all Aztec athletic teams, especially football and basketball, and the Mountain West conference as a whole. Upon graduation, he became Director of Communications for former San Diego 2nd District Councilman and later, Deputy Mayor, Byron Wear. When his terms expired, Peter worked for the City of San Diego as a Park Ranger at local lakes. Most recently, he was Dock Supervisor for UPS in Vernon, California.

He was preceded in death by his favorite doting aunt, Wendy Wangsgard. He is survived by his loving parents Gayle and Larry Bryan of Kauai, Hawaii and brother Derek Bryan of San Diego. Services will be announced by Featheringill Mortuary of San Diego.
