Prince Whiting III passed away on June 6, 2026 at the age of 78 in San Diego, California. Born on June 6, 1948 in Memphis, Tennessee. Prince discovered his love for painting in his teenage years, teaching himself with patient dedication and developing a unique style through years of passion and hard work. He attended George Washington Carver High School in Memphis, Tennessee and later moved to Bowling Green, Kentucky where he continued his education. In 1968, Prince participated in the Sanitation Workers Strike and marched with Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. to advocate for better working conditions for sanitation workers in Memphis. In 1971, he moved to San Diego, California and worked independently cleaning office buildings before joining Scripps Mercy Hospital, where he continued his career until retirement. Prince was a man of great faith who believed deeply in God. He pursued his goals with determination stepping out in faith and working diligently to achieve them. Additionally, he enjoyed listening to jazz, spending time with family, watching sports, caring for his pets, and simply embracing life. His passion extended to building fish tanks, and creating a saltwater system for the fish tank. He was married to Mary who had a son Juan and together they had a son Jason. Later he was married to Katherine and had a son Prince IV. Prince was preceded in the death by his father Prince Whiting Jr, mother Bradie (Hill) Taylor, and siblings Jack, Wade, Jean Jackson, John and Derrick Whiting; first wife Mary. He is survived by his siblings Regina, Marla, and Darryl Whiting. Also, survived by his three children Jason and Prince Whiting IV, Juan Wheeler; grandchildren Jazan, Jajuan, Twins Nayson and Jason, Semira, Donovan, Danyra, Heir, Catalina, Bria, Julian, Dominic; great-grandchildren Emery, Kase, Khalia, and Remy Rose.
