Robert L. McNabb
Beloved husband, father, and grandfather, Robert L. McNabb died June 17, 2023, one month before his 96th birthday. He was predeceased by a son, Steven L. McNabb; his wife of nearly 50 years, Jane Kennedy; his second wife, Ann Williams, and his sister Jean (Miki) McNabb Shapiro.
He is survived by his son, David McNabb, sister Victoria Wheeler, son Steve's widow, Marianne Polk Blanchard, grandchildren Leslie, Charlie, Christopher, and Stephanie, and five great-grandchildren. Bob leaves behind his canine companion, Rosie.
Bob graduated from high school in Grandview, Ohio, and entered the Navy in 1945. where San Diego won his heart. On the G.I. Bill he graduated from Ohio State University in Fine Arts, married coed Jane, and worked in insurance in Columbus, OH. In 1958 they were ready for the move to Ojai, CA. There he taught art at the Happy Valley School and was employed in the insurance.industry.
He relocated to El Cajon, San Diego, as his business grew. Success came with world-wide travel and cruising. He attended cultural events and studied genealogy. His culinary passion included a great cup of coffee, a fine meal, and an excellent wine. In his retirement he enjoyed sailing and traveling in his designer camper.
Devoted to his family, Bob taught "family first." His love of humor, and storytelling were a family treasure.
Bob's mantra: "To affect the quality of the day, is the finest of the arts."
