Rosario Osornio Canez

Rosario Osornio-Canez, 84, of San Diego, California, passed away peacefully on February 20, 2026, surrounded by her loving family.

Born on May 08, 1941 in Sinaloa, Mexico.  Rosario (La Chayito) was known for her vibrant and free spirit. She gave warm hugs and loving smiles. Her grandchildren and great grandchildren describe her legacy as precious. Every memory of her a treasured blessing, a source of joy, and a guiding light in their lives.

She gave her love unconditionally and with no judgement. Throughout her life she experienced hardships and heart breaks but she was resilient and courageous, always holding her head up high. She loved dressing up for the occasion and lit up the room with her vibrant colors. She wore stylish clothes and always carried a fashionable purse. Rosario was always on the go, traveling and seeking new adventures. She enjoyed the warm sun on her face and the great outdoors.

She is survived by her husband of 36 years, Javier Canez; her children, Jose Osornio, Consuelo Osornio, Margarita Arevalo, Ruben Osornio, Daniel Osornio, Rosa Gonzalez, and Mary Cristilli; and her adored grandchildren and great grandchildren (in the double digits).
