Ruth Isabelle Alferos

Ruth Isabell was born on September 24, 1932 to Ramon and Josephine Armendariz in Los Angeles, California. She would make her way down to San Diego where she would start her life and plant her roots. She eventually met her soon to be husband Ricardo Alferos at her sister Josie’s Wedding to her Brother-In-Law Rudy. In 1950, she married Ricardo and raised 4 beautiful children, Ricardo Jr. (Dickie), Francisco (Frank), Linda and Gloria. When her youngest daughter entered high school she began working at the supply center on 32nd street and then the commissary in Miramar, which lead her to SPAWAR in Point Loma where she spent 20+ years as the Administrative Secretary then eventually retired in 2004.

Ruth enjoyed time at the casino and you can always find her at the slots or the keno machine! More importantly, she treasured and enjoyed spending time with her family and grandchildren. She was always excited to know she was having a new great grandbaby and she was going to be a great great grandma. We of course can’t forget her fur babies Chico, Chica, Papachu, and Lady, they were her companions as her family grew older.

She enjoyed volunteering for her church and being busy with the donation pantry. She was a Catholic daughter, which she was very proud of, and was always helping and excited for their Christmas Boutique every year.

She loved entertaining and hosted countless parties over the years. She was a friend to all and could be found having coffee and a good  conversation with neighbors.

Ruth is preceded in death by husband: Ricardo, son: Franciso, and Great Grand Daughters: Rian Christine Cooper and Brianna Nicole Mulholland. 

She is survived by her sister Barbara Acosta, and children Ricardo Alferos Jr., Linda Alferos-Towne (Dale), Gloria Alferos-Bonnett (Mark). She leaves behind many grandchildren, Christine Cooper (Brian), Lisa Cota (Roland), Cullen Mulholland (Sandra), Corina Neeley (Shawn), Keone Alferos (Ronda), Dale Barragan-Towne (Nicholas), Ricardo Bonnett (Ana), and Jenna Bonnett. Along with 19 Great Grand Children and 3 Great Great Grand Children.
