Santina “Sandy” Warren passed away on July 13, 2025, at the age of 87 after a long and brave battle with cancer.
Sandy had a lovely singing voice and twinkly eyes. Her handwriting was unmistakable. She was an excellent dancer. She loved corny jokes, murder mysteries, Broadway musicals, travel, Wheel of Fortune, speaking foreign languages, strong Italian cheeses, jazz, and bargains. She disliked Bob Dylan, and especially loathed his Christmas album, which the family sometimes played during the holidays just to bug her. She was an intuitively excellent cook who disdained written recipes, and she had very strong opinions on the proper way to clean a kitchen. She was a faithful Catholic her entire life; in San Diego she attended St. Therese Parish for several decades, and then joined Our Lady of Grace, where she was a regular at the Saturday 5:30pm mass until her death. She was extremely kind and very funny. No obituary could ever do her justice.
She will be missed immensely by Ronald, her loving husband of 58 years; her two children, David and Wendy; her adoring grandchildren, beloved nieces, and family. She is predeceased by her parents, Anna and Francesco, and her adored sister, Anna.
The family wishes to thank the doctors and nurses of Scripps Mercy Hospital, Scripps Green, and the Scripps Cancer Center.
