Steve grew up as the second of three children, moving as a young child from Pacific Beach to living in the brand-new section of Oak Park, San Diego after the easing of the post WWII housing shortage.

The neighborhood at that time was filled with new families and children-later to be called Baby Boomers- all outside, putting in the very first lawns, joyfully roller skating, scootering, tri-cycling, or being stroller-ed on new smooth endless sidewalks and driveways. Everyone was getting to know one another, especially as television was not yet that appealing to children who were more interested in playing outside. From time to time, an adult ran nighttime hide-and-seek games in the summer. Many years later, as grown-ups and a few elders, Steve and family would attend Laurel St Reunions at a local San Diego restaurant, and reminisce, just like the parents used to do, about “the good old days,” which included not only the moon landing, but also Apollo 13’s amazing return!

Steve attended Oak Park Elementary School, Horace Mann Junior High, Crawford High, then San Diego City College-ultimately graduating from the University of San Diego as an economics major. His career spanned the grocery business, real estate and property management.

In his youth, Steve played little league & pony-league baseball, and he would continue to talk Padres baseball with his enthusiastic baseball-loving dad for the duration of their lives. He also did track-and-field, and he loved his 10-speed bike. Sportfishing, photography, the Mazda Car Club, his dog, Toad, and a good book were among his adult enjoyments.

He traveled internationally to see family in England and explored far away New Zealand, but also enjoyed family holidays and celebrations. One Christmas he made and brought the best Brussels sprouts with bacon ever tasted! He also showed up for his mom and dad as they grew older in their time of need.

Steve was survived by his dear mother, Pamela Dellemann of San Diego, sister Irene McCulloch (Glen), nephew Dave McCulloch, and several cousins in England, Wisconsin and Arizona. He was predeceased in death by his brother, Alan Dellemann at the age of 14 from a chronic illness, and his retired SD Fire Captain father, Willard Dellemann at the age of 94. He was married once for 10 years.

Remember the good times.

Rest in Peace .
