Vivian V. Hernandez

May 15, 1933 — May 9, 2024

Miss me...but let me go.  "When I come to the end of the road, And the sun has set for me,I want no rites in a gloom-filled room.
Why cry for a soul set free? Miss me a little, but not too long. And not with your head bowed low. Remember the love and laughter we shared.
Miss me... but let me go. For this is a journey that we all must take, And each must go alone. It’s all a part of the master plan, A step on the road to home. When you are lonely and sick of heart, Go to family and friends, And bury your sorrow in doing good deeds. Miss me... but let me go." --

Mom’s long and full journey in this world came to a peaceful end on May 9, 2024. Mom passed as she
wanted to go: at home, walking to the last minute, in no pain, and peacefully with family by her side.
Vivian Venegas (Hernandez) was born May 15, 1933, in Yuma, Arizona, to her parents, Angelita and
Guadalupe Venegas. She always spoke fondly of her early childhood. She grew up with her four
brothers, numerous cousins, and other extended family. In her teens, she moved to San Diego,
California, and met and then married her husband, Bernabe G. Hernandez, in 1954.

Mom was a beloved wife, mother, Nana, Great-Nana, sister, aunt, and friend.
Mom wa's preceded in death by her husband, Bernabe G. Hernandez, and her stepdaughter, Adella S.
Hernandez. She is survived by her four children: Bernabe, Yolanda, Rosie, and Jimmie; six grandchildren:
Bridgette, Elena, Myriah, Luke, Caen, and Tess; and five great-grandchildren: Fiona, Xander, Elorie,
Bennett, and Everett (whom she called Leo).

She lived a long life filled with love and laughter. She was a fiercely independent, kind, and proud
woman who always put others before herself.

Rest in peace, dear mother. You’ll be deeply missed but never forgotten.

Mom’s ashes will be blended with those of her husband and placed in the wall at Fort Rosecrans
National Cemetery in Point Loma.

Memorial services for Mom will be held on June 21, 2024, at 9:00 am at Fort Rosecrans National
