William Leslie Hubbard

William Leslie Hubbard, our loving father and grandfather passed away on March 16, 2022. He was born on January 2, 1933 in San Diego, California to Leslie William Hubbard and Laura Grandmaison. Bill graduated from San Diego High School in 1951. After high school, he went to work for the Alaskan Railroad. He then enlisted in the army and returned to Alaska. He shared many stories with his family of his time there.
He studied civil engineering at San Diego State University. He was employed by California Division of Highways (Caltrans) as a structural engineer for over 38 years. Bill married Bonnie Williams in 1961. They enjoyed traveling all over the world. He was a San Diego Charger fan and season ticket holder for 25 years. After Bonnie’s passing, their Scottish terrier, Maggie Mae was his faithful companion for the last years of his life.
Bill was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Bill had 3 daughters, Shannon Horn (Jens), Laurie Baron(Keith) and Melissa Beers(Carrey). He loved his 11 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. Grandchildren: Rob, Allison, Stephanie, Tim, Jeff, Amanda, Mikayla, Rachel, Allan, Jared and James; Great grandchildren: Reagan, Cy, Amelia, Rylee and William.
Bill was preceded in death by his wife Bonnie, his brother James Mason Hubbard (Marie), and his parents Leslie William Hubbard and Laura Grandmaison.
Services and Internment will be held at Miramar National Cemetery with military honors.
