In Loving Memory of Wilma Ann Sutton
“Those we love don’t go away, they walk beside us in our hearts every day - unseen, unheard, but still loved, still missed, and very dear.”
Wilma went to heaven to be with our Lord on Saturday April 18, 2026, in San Diego California following a sudden and unexpected illness.
Wilma was a sweet, kind, and loving woman who found happiness and joy in each and every day. She loved to laugh and have fun. She was deeply loved by her family. To Wilma, everyone she met was a friend. She had an incredible memory for peoples names and never missed an opportunity to offer praise, express gratitude, or share a kind compliment. Her warmth and gentle spirit left a lasting impression on all who knew her.
One of the greatest joys in Wilma’s life was her involvement with St. Madeline Sophie’s Center, a day program for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities. There, she thrived in an environment of education, empowerment, and compassion. Wilma cherished her friendships and deeply appreciated the caring staff who treated her with love, respect, and dignity. She found happiness in socializing, riding the bus each day, participating in arts and crafts, music and singing, going on field trips to places like the Zoo and Wild Animal Park, helping with the Meals on Wheels Program, and staying active through exercising.
Wilma was born on November 13, 1943 in St. Joseph Missouri to the late Nadine Sutton and Adrian Sutton. She was the youngest of six children. In 2004, Wilma and her Mother moved to San Diego where they lived with her beloved sister, Dixie.
In addition to her parents, Wilma was preceded in death by her sister Sharon, and brothers Frank, Larry, and Adrian, nephew Donald, and niece Sheila.
She is lovingly survived by her sister Dixie; nieces Abbey, Brie, Adriana, and Debbie; nephews Craig, Mark, and David; and many great nieces and great nephews who will continue to cherish her memory.
Wilma was deeply loved by all who knew her and will be greatly missed. Her kindness, joy, and gentle spirit will live on in the hearts of those she touched.
